Studio
Jacobsroom is a research-based design studio founded by Kathrin Charlotte Bohr in 2017.
Investigating the ecological, social and spiritual impact we live today, Jacobsroom pushes the boundaries of creativity to craft ideas and designs that challenge and embody the value we assign to our lives and environments.
Jacobsroom offers both bespoke design solutions for extraordinary customer experiences, as well as a curated collection of unique pieces and limited editions available in our shop.
Jacobsroom is rooted in the real: As inhabitants of a world teetering between dystopia and utopia, we understand the overwhelming nature of our daily lives and the yearning for serenity and purpose. How can we create regenerative and eudemonic value, and foster both a sustainable future and a fulfilling meaning in our lives?
These questions fuel our research and our approach. We put maximum effort into regenerative production processes, investing in both time-honored traditions and innovative AI techniques. We value every aspect of production, from our unwavering dedication to traditional artisan mastery to our collaborations with start-ups that prioritize ecological impact research. Our vision is to weave art into regenerative processes, fostering a circularity of economics and culture.
The word “decor” traces its roots back to the Latin word “decorum,” which held deep ethical significance in Ancient Greek society. In this sense, “decor” reflects and refracts the light of fashion, fusing uniqueness and awareness into objects that embody beauty as an ideal of virtue. We aim to shift perceptions and convey dreams into a poetic dimension that ignites the imagination, transcending the confines of ownership and consumerism.
Our conceptual and minimalist approach is inspired by the unexpected. Influenced by geometrical abstraction, monochromatic palettes, and the realms of metaphysics and surrealism, our designs establish an evocative relationship between space, light, and objects. We draw from an array of iconography and visionary sources, both tangible (our
rich cultural heritage, arts, music, and poetry) and virtual (the boundless potential and imagery that emerge from contemporary physics and AI advancements). Our creations are a promise in motion – a promise to make people truly feel the profound and personal significance of decor and belonging, of a promising future that we choose to happen.

ABOUT Kathrin Charlotte Bohr
Kathrin Charlotte was cast up onto the shore of lifestyle design from a vast ocean of experiences.
Growing up in Alsace, Germany and Italy, she dedicated herself to the plastic arts and music, and after graduating from the conservatory she obtained her BA in philosophy.
She has worked in creative direction for advertising and cinema and has won awards from international institutions such as the New York Film Festival, Rotterdam Film Festival and Promax TV & Advertising Awards.
In 2010 she debuted at the Salone Satellite in Milan with her first set of designs for interiors and began working for interior design brands. Her joy in creating interiors and singular pieces for others is driven – and deeply influenced – by her previous experiences.
In 2017 she launched jacobsroom, her own design studio, making her creativity available to all those seeking unique pieces and bespoke interiors.
Her work has been discussed by design blogs and magazines, and in 2019 she was made an honoree by Interior Design Magazine, NYC, and German Design Awards.
At the heart of Kathrin’s design approach is a multi-layered, stimulating sensory experience. Driven by her prodigious imagination, she explores new materials and details to prioritize minimalist aesthetics, clean, soft lines and high-end technical features.
Her focus is on unique pieces made with regenerated and exclusive materials and careful attention to forms and their harmonic interaction. She adopts a playful approach that favors individual interpretation and composition.
Kathrin sensitivity for materials is based on a dense layering of biographical, emotional and cultural references. The creation of each piece goes through multiple revisions and adaptations, and a long period of fine-tuning the play between new materials and evocative details.
When creating a piece, she looks beyond practicalities and difficulties to seek unique solutions to obstacles and technical dead ends.
Kathrin prepares full-size models, and likes to bring her customers into the creative process, offering them the joyful prospect of design that increases their personal freedom.
The idea of the timelessness expected of a “lasting object” is taken to a a different level: each piece appeals through its singular performance and esthetic efficiency – sustainable and serene over time.
For Kathrin, design reflects and refracts the light of fashion, fusing uniqueness and awareness into objects which capture the term’s original meaning of beauty equaling virtue. Her aim is to shift perceptions and dreams into a poetic dimension that excites the imagination and encourages us to think beyond concepts of ownership and consumerism.
She wants her work to celebrate the joys of life: kitchens that make us want to dance, lamps that evoke treasured memories of childhood, mirrors that draw us in to play.
With jacobsroom, Kathrin aims for a responsible and inclusive design approach that invests on a promising future.
