Partition

In search of a dividing unit for her delightful pied-à-terre in Rome, our client Paola came to us with a need for storage space for accessories and glassware, a display space for books, a small desk for writing, and a rear unit to hide and close-off a sleeping area. By playing with shapes and asymmetrical decors, we decided on a way to unify these functional aspects in a piece of narrative decor that can be both central and noncentral, both present and un-present. It both decenters the space and is the centerpiece of the tiny house.
Finding the voice of a home is like following a musical score: movements, accents, listening, silence.
The partition’s geometries change shape from different perspectives, supported by a light metal structure that allows for spontaneity and movement of the matter, like a musical improvisation where a piece comes into being through its continuous regeneration.
